High Volume Production of Ball Bearings
There is a new global leader for the production of turbocharger ball bearings. It has shifted from the location in Plymouth (at Barden Corp) to The Schaeffer UK automotive plant in Llanelli, South Wales. The new plant is said to be more efficient, as well as being more suited for high volume, high speed and lower cost production of the product. There has been a recent increase in customer demand, and a shifting global market climate, requiring an increase in turbocharger ball bearing production.
Turbocharger ball bearings are angular
contact bearings that use ceramic balls, metallic cages, anti-rotation device, an outer ring, a compressor inner ring, a turbine inner ring and a series of oil flow control jets. These
angular contact bearings can reach temperatures upwards of 400 degrees Celsius during rotation, as they can rotate in excess of 150,000 rpm. What makes ball bearing turbochargers unique is the fact that they do not require the lubricating oil to heat up. This also makes them superior to joined bearing turbocharger systems.
According to the Welsh plant’s president, Shaffer’s new developments in
ball bearing production can improve fuel efficiency up to 2.5 percent. There is a developing trend in the automotive industry towards cleaner powertrain solutions. The recent investment in the new plant and machinery utilizes surface coated engine components that lower fuel consumption as well as reducing CO2 emissions.
The demand for turbocharger ball bearings is only set to increase over the next few years. It is a fast-expanding need requiring an increase in contemporary bearing distributors that can keep up with market needs. Aerospace Aviation 360 offers an extensive selection of electronic components and is among the leading bearing distributors. Aerospace Aviation 360 is contributing to the rise of the circulation of such parts worldwide. Aerospace Aviation 360 makes products accessible in an efficient and easy way for you.
