New developments to speed up processes in the cable and assembly industry are constantly being introduced. Recently, a new connector was designed for high-frequency connections between servers, storage, communication systems, video, and switches. This data transmission can reach speeds of up to 56 Gbps. Created by a European provider, prototypes of this connector exhibited excellent electrical properties. This new development will benefit companies dealing with equipment suppliers and network operators, as it saves energy by eliminating the need for active strengthening with additional electronics. This equipment is continually tested for upgrades and to address any issues. The landscape is ever-changing, and the next generation of wiring is on the horizon.
Not only can the system maintain a stable frequency of up to 2m, but it can also support a passive network structure at 200 G. The data rate has been increased to 56 Gbps due to the use of complex PCB connectors and specially developed high-speed cables. These passive cables can transfer data quickly and safely. Therefore, either the data per share can be increased or additional data shares can be added to achieve the change from 200 G to 400 G. This is only feasible if passive components are continuously used. Next, the modulation method was changed from NRZ to PAM4, doubling the data rate within the same bandwidth. However, this upgrade requires a technology update.
Leoni continues to diversify by finding different solutions for transceiver connections and data rates. They are already moving on to their next project of developing a prototype 400 G, with data transfer occurring at a high frequency and volume, equivalent to almost 12 CDs.
