On February 8 2017, Mick Elliott wrote an article for Electronic specifier talking about how there is a new MUSBR series USB-C connector from Amphenol. This new USB-C connector works across many different platforms such at smartphones, laptops, PCs, and tablets. Not only has this but the USB-C connector also worked with things such as power packs and chargers as all as industrial machinery.
Some of these USB-C connectors can handle up to 100W of power. These connectors usually can withstand a very high temperature as the housing is thermoplastic. The plates are made of nickel and are also stainless steel. The stainless steel is used as an added protection to the USB-C connectors.
What makes the USB-C more convenient than the regular USB cords is that the plug is reversible meaning it will connect no matter if upside down or right side up. The nickel plating uses a 2.57 mm diameter hold for mounting and comes in different colors such as gray and black. These USB-C devise from Amphenol will be available in the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions. Amphenol is a major producer of electronic and fiber optics.
